Like Oiwa&#8217;s faithless husband, Macbeth is seduced into evil by unbridled ambition and tormented by the ghosts of those he murdered. The supernatural is everywhere&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><i><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>GHOST LIGHT<\/strong><\/span> fuses elements of these masterpieces to create a completely original spine-tingling, brilliantly theatrical new work.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Funded by generous grants from the\u00a0UCLA Academic Senate Council on Research and the Terasaki Center for Japanese Studies.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>Our Original Story<\/i><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The year is 2010.\u00a0Japanese-American actress, Keiko (Kay) Tamiya, descendant\u00a0of the original Oiwa, gives birth to a baby girl AND wins a Primetime Emmy all on the same day. Her husband and co-star, Bryan Eamon Quinn, also nominated, loses out to his arch rival. \u00a0Kay and Bryan are riding high as America&#8217;s favorite couple with an unbreakable contract<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">binding them together &#8212; love, devotion, and partners at home&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When both are offered the leads in<span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0<i>MACBETH<\/i><\/span>\u00a0on Broadway, Bryan&#8217;s thrill at playing the role of a lifetime is dashed by Keiko&#8217;s disgust at the director&#8217;s concept for Lady Macbeth: a stereotypical, derogatory depiction of Asian women.
